COVID-19 update

Due to the current global situation, our delivery times may be longer than usual. Since our production facility is placed outside of Denmark, we might experience a longer delivery time on our sunglasses as well. So please be patient when waiting for your order or if a pair of sunglasses is sold out.

Everything is handled with care and we prioritize safety. Your package will be packed by people taking this situation seriously and we follow every guideline stated by the Danish government.

We appreciate every single one of you, we wish you the best and hope that you and those close to you remain safe and healthy.

FAQ about our sunglasses

What is Ocean Waste Plastic?

Ocean Waste Plastic, also known as OWP, is any plastic material that is floating around the oceans or is littering areas where it can potentially float into the ocean.

Where does the plastic for the sunglasses come from?

When purchasing a pair of ResponSEAbility sunglasses, you will receive a unique QR code. This will provide information on where the batch of plastic that your sunglasses have been made from was collected.

Who collects the plastic?

We collect the plastic in close collaboration with our partners at Ocean Waste Plastic. They collaborate with local fishermen. You can read more about that on their webpage here.

How much Ocean Waste Plastic goes into a pair of Responseability sunglasses?

It takes roughly 1 kg of Ocean Waste Plastic to produce one pair of sunglasses. However, our sunglasses do not weigh 1 kg per pair.

When we clean up plastic from the ocean, we do not differentiate between the plastic that is usable for our sunglasses and the plastic that is not. We pick up all the plastic that is littering the oceans because that is the main purpose of ResponSEAbility: to clean the oceans of plastic.

For every kilo of plastic we clean from the ocean, approximately 5% is used for the sunglasses. 75% of the plastic is used for various types of packaging, and finally, the remaining 20% of the plastic gets burned as the quality is simply too poor for recycling.

What type of plastic is used to produce sunglasses?

We use a plastic type called PET to produce our sunglasses. This is the same type of plastic material that single-use water bottles are made of, for example.

How is the quality of the sunglasses?

We do not compromise on quality! Our sunglasses are durable, provide great vision and are of course completely UVA/UVB protected (UV400) and polarized. This means you are fully blocked from any harmful rays that may come your way - so you can concentrate on more important things like taking #ResponSEAbility.

What difference does it make to buy a pair of Responseability sunglasses?

When you buy a pair of ResponSEAbility sunglasses, you actively remove 1 kilo of plastic from the ocean. This makes a noticeable difference as it only takes one plastic bag to kill a turtle. Moreover, you increase awareness of the ocean plastic crisis.

An indirect benefit of Ocean Waste Plastic is that the production of recycled plastic, OWP, uses 85% less energy and emits 75% fewer greenhouse gasses than the production of virgin plastic.
